Jackets jackets jackets

Well like I've posted before the alphabet pillows have been selling quite a bit. So I took another trip out to Value Village and spent way more than I wanted too :P But look at all these fantastic jackets!I can't decide which one I want for myself... I love the first one in the first picture.. that looks like a sofa.. but it doesn't go with my colours :( It even has giant brass buttons and puckered pockets.. ah well. Maybe the rusty velour?

Art Show

Well this is a little slow, but I have had some art up at Dwell this month. A lot has sold, and some to out of town people, so the walls are a bit bare, but I have been working to replenish it :P

I'm having an opening this Thursday, the 22nd from 2-7, so if you're in town please stop in :)

Queen West Art Crawl

I took part in the Queen West Art Crawl last month and had a great show!! My best yet. Gotta love Toronto! I took a quick pic of my set-up, I think I need some more shelving, but I like the owls hanging down the side.

Style at Home Canada

So this month has been pretty exciting. I took a bit of a holiday to NY city, which was super fun! But besides that, I got my name in Style at Home Canada. Dwell Boutique, the store I started selling my work at was featured as the store of the month. And they listed my name for my origami mobiles! I was hoping my owls might make it in.. but the mobiles are great too!

Sucess!

I have recently had quite a huge response to my alphabet pillows!! I have made it on to the Environmentally Friendly Gift Guide on Etsy, as well as a few treasuries that made the front page.

I was featured on a lovely blog called ohdeedoh, as well as a really funky blog called outsapop.

All of this seems to have happened at once and resulted in over 800 hits on my etsy site in one day! Now fingers crossed for some orders :P

Clutches

So I've been making these clutches for a little while, but I postponed taking pictures. Mostly because I'm lazy, but also it's been crazy hot and I didn't feel like putting pants on :P Anyways, i filled out an application for Plaid Tidings the other day and needed a pic. So here they are.

The clutches (and I've also made bags) are from recycled coffee sacs, so they are burlap and have all sorts of prints on them. Tons of blues, pinks, reds and greens. I love digging through the pile and picking out the fun one :)

Elephants!

I made the one elephant before, and he sold at Fanfayr. So I thought I'd make a couple new ones out of suit material. Not super child friendly, but cool moms will like them :P

It's been a while

I've been super busy and have totally neglected the blog, and I can't promise I'm going to stop, but I will at least try harder!
In the last month I had my best show ever, Fanfayr. I filled my stores in Toronto, and got a few new stores in Ottawa and Montreal! So I at least have an excuse.
This past week I have been making owls. 30 owls to be exact. And they are all heading out the door on Monday..
I'm in a show this Thursday the 30th in Picton aswell, 9am-8pm in the Curling building.. which I'm not quite sure where it is.. but Picton isn't big, so hopefully I can find it.

Anyways, a few pics of what I have been up to...My giant boxes of pillow forms.. I will be storing these in fabric hammocks on my ceiling :P

30 owls...

Working late at night to make more owlets for Fanfayr. I really need to organize my craft room.. and stop making stupid faces in pictures :P

Art Among the Ruins

So this weekend I was part of a great show called Art Among the Ruins. It was my first time, but the show has been there for many years. The property is absolutely beautiful, it's the site of an old mill and there are limestone walls and old equipment place around a river with some rapids. It was a lot of fun, tons of people came out. I hope to be part of it again next year!

Vancouver

So I haven't added an entry in a while, mostly because I've been too busy sewing, but also because I've been sewing a lot of the same things I've already posted about. So it's not super interesting :P But here are some pics of an order that went to Vancouver to a very cool store called Room6.
They also ordered some mobiles and owls, but I didn't take pics of those.

Honeycomb Cuff

I cut this cuff from one sheet of silver, so no soldering.. which I thought might be easier, but it still was a lot of work :P I really like it but I'm going to have to start selling stuff eventually :( So this one's up on my etsy site. If it sells it'll be hard to mail it off.

My cousin Jen bought me the figures in the back, there's a series of them. B-list horror movie extras, they're hilarious and I'll probably use them for all my pics from now on :)

Claire and Kevin

This is my latest commission, a felt couple for Claire and Kevin. I was super happy with the way they turned out, and they were aswell.

My work can now be found in one store in Vancouver www.room6.com, and two stores in Toronto www.bluebananamarket.com and distillgallery.com!
Well it can be found in a few weeks once I've shipped the orders :)

New Letter

I'm heading to T.O. on Friday to show off some of my work to some stores, so I made a sample letter as an example, since my others have sold.. and here it is, complete with pocket and elbow patch. Super fun!

New Clutch

My friend recently bought a new clutch made from an old coffee bag.. of course I'm totally jealous, so with some new fabric I got for $2/mtr! I decided to try to make my own. This is obviously a first attempt, I realized I need to use some sort of stiffener so it's not flopping all over, so for this one I sewed in some wood skewers, and the strap is a faux leather.. but overall I'm pretty happy :) I LOVE the colour.. which you can't really see in these pics.. but I will have a bag soon and I'll take more pics of that :)

My commission

I finally finished a commission that was really fun, turning two photos into fabric art. It was by far more complex than any of the other fabric art I had done before, but I was really happy with the outcome, and so was the client :)

more silver

This is a bracelet that has been in the works for a few weeks. I just finished it up tonight. It was pretty ambitious and there were a few set backs, but I'm pretty happy with it :)

How to choose?!

So I have this trunk of fabric from my grandmother, she cut hundreds of strips of fabric for rug-hooking, in tons of fabulous colours.. trouble is, it's at my sisters house :( So last week I had an idea for a bracelet, but I needed the fabric.. so Vicki sent me a package :) Look at all the fun colours!!

So I tried a few combinations, but of course ended up with neutrals :P I think I need my cousins help with picking the colours.. but I think it ended up pretty cool.. I think I'll try one quite a bit wider...

Silversmithing!

I actually just found out that although I'm taking a silversmithing class, it should really be called goldsmithing.. but since I'm using silver I'm going to keep calling it that :P

I love it, it is so much fun and I have a million ideas that I've been storing up for years.. so keep posted and I'll take some pics. Right now I can show you my first rings..
